The “Agganis Curse” continues as Boston misses out on three points in a devasting loss in Boston.
Boston captain Hilary Knight opened the scoring late in the first period. Boston held a one goal lead over Toronto up until the third period.
Daryl Watts tied the game at 4:07 in the third period, and within two minutes, Hayley Scammura scored her first goal of the season to give Toronto the one-goal lead. Renata Fast joined the action, and quickly, it was a 3-1 game, Toronto with the two-goal lead.
Hilary Knight scored her second of the game to cut the deficit to one goal, shortly after Daryl Watts scored her second of the game to put this one away. Boston’s 9-game point streak was snapped, and the curse of Agganis Arena holds true.
Final Notes
Boston’s point streak comes to an end at nine. Their last regulation loss came against Toronto on Feb. 14, and they sit at third in the league, just five points ahead of Minnesota. These next two games against Ottawa will be crucial, as they are starting to get momentum. The Fleet has had a great run over the past few weeks, but will it be enough for them to punch their ticket into the 2025 Walter Cup Finals?
Boston Head Coach Courtney Kessel on the third period: “I think a few shifts in a row we couldn’t get the puck out, ends up in the back of our net. It’s from below the goal line, kind of hits off [Aerin] Frankel and goes in the net. It’s a little bit unfortunate, but you can never take a shift off in this league. Anything can happen in this league, so you have to show up every shift.”
Next game for Boston: Saturday, March 29 vs. Ottawa at 2 p.m. ET (Enterprise Center)
