Read a recap of the matchup between the Boston fleet and Ottawa Charge on April 2.
Ottawa dominated the ice all game. Boston could not connect and was left scoreless on home ice. Former Boston player Shiann Darkangelo scored her first PWHL hat trick to lift Ottawa to fourth place in the league. Ottawa sits one point behind the Fleet as the league enters the international break. Boston has lost three straight games in regulation and lost its first game at Tsongas Center since its home opener.
Darkangelo’s first of the night came on the power play just 45 seconds into the game. She added another goal to Ottawa’s lead at 7:42 of the second period, followed by a Jincy Roese goal at 15:29 to increase the lead to 3-0 after two periods. Darkangelo scored her third of the night 6:29 into the third period.

Final Notes
The Fleet still sits at third in the league, in a playoff spot. Heading into the international break on a three-game regulation losing streak is not the best sign. The reigning Walter Cup runners-up must dig deep after the international break to clinch a playoff spot. Ottawa has been playing consistent hockey over the past couple of weeks, and they now hold the fourth and final playoff spot. Montreal is still the only team in the league to clinch a playoff spot.
Boston Head Coach Courtney Kessel: “We have three games left, we have to be better. Took our foot off the pedal here thinking we’re in playoffs and we’re not. Now it’s a race. Last year was a dark hole that we climbed out of. It’s different, you know, we are still sitting in third place. Have we performed the last three games? No, we’re not where we want to be, but sometimes when you lose before you head into playoffs, it can be a good thing, but we still need to get there.”
Next game for Boston: Saturday, April 26 vs. Toronto at 2 p.m. ET (Tsongas Center)
