It’s a Terrier Takeover! Women's Soccer Advances to the Patriot League Championship.

the Boston University Women’s Soccer team beats Colgate 1-0 to make it into the Patriot League Championship!

Like a moth to a flame, Boston University’s Margy Porta’s kick found attraction to the back of Colgate’s net in the last minute – the one and only goal on Oct. 29, solidifying the Terriers’s No. 1-seed entry into the Patriot League Championships.

Throughout the game, BU outshot Colgate by six, with the Terriers’ sophomore goalkeeper snagging a total of five saves to earn her shutout. The goal scored by senior Margy Porta was assisted by sophomore Olivia Avellar and senior Morgan Weaver.

The Patriot League has been an ongoing tournament that is dedicated to showing support for student-athletes. Well-rounded students can achieve athletic success, and the league wants to emphasize on the programs taking them to the next level.

The Terriers captured the 2024 League title after 10 round shootouts in order to win 8–7 against Bucknell in a neck-and-neck game. Last year’s win was the fifth Patriot League win for the BU program; however, they had not one since 2018. The BU team earned their way into the 2024 NCAA DI Women’s Soccer Championship and are ready to do so again!

Can the Terriers take home the title, avenging themselves as reigning champs? Next match up will be Nov. 6, when Boston University will await the kickoff against the lowest seed at 6 p.m. at Nickerson Field. 4
