Beth Greenwood WPBL Prospect

Baseball catcher Beth Greenwood awaits her chance to play professionally.

New Hampshire native Beth Greenwood is a draft prospect for the first-ever Women’s Professional Baseball League draft. Despite there not being a place for Greenwood to play professionally, she certainly has made her place in the baseball world.

While in high school, Greenwood was a member of the boys’ varsity baseball team and also played basketball.

Greenwood attended the University of Rochester in upstate New York and played baseball on the men’s team. When she joined the team in 2021, she was the first woman to play baseball for Rochester. Greenwood further made history when she became the first woman to play the catcher position in NCAA history.

After graduating from college in 2022, Greenwood went on to work with the Philadelphia Phillies organization. In 2022, she began working as the Baseball Research and Development Fellow. In 2024, she began her new role as the Minor League Development Coach. While with the Phillies, she was the youngest and only on-field woman in the organization. In January of 2025, Greenwood began her current job as an Assistant Baseball Coach at Vassar College.

Greenwood is a member of the Women’s National USA Baseball team. In 2022, she was invited to the training camp for the Women’s National Open. In 2024, she was a part of the team’s roster when they won a silver medal in the Women’s World Baseball Cup.

The WPBL Draft is on Thursday, Nov. 20, and Beth Greenwood will be waiting to see if her name will be called to be a part of the league’s inaugural season.
