Your Boston Fleet starts their 2026 season at home on Sunday, Nov. 23. Here’s what to expect from the team going into the new year.
The Boston Fleet starts their season with their home opener this Sunday against the Montreal Victoire at 1 p.m. This game at Tsongas Center marks the start of their third season in the Professional Women’s Hockey League.
Setting the tone for the new team, the Fleet recently named their leadership team for the year, including Megan Keller as captain and Jamie Lee Rattray and Alina Müller as alternate captains. Keller is the Fleet’s first captain after the loss of Hilary Knight to the Seattle Torrent in the expansion draft after last season. This is Rattray’s third season in the alternate captain role, providing mentorship and experience to the position. Keller steps up from her role as alternate for the past two seasons. This is Müller’s first season stepping into a leadership role with the PWHL.
The team has also acquired a new coach this offseason, with Kris Sparre taking the reins. Last season, the Fleet just narrowly missed the playoffs. The previous season, the Fleet made it to the championship finals. This year, the goal is to get back in the fight for the Walter Cup.
The Fleet played their first two games of the preseason against the Montreal Victoire, unfortunately dropping both games with a score of 2-3. However, it is hard to see how the Fleet will stack up against the other teams so early on, and these were both close games with one of them going into overtime.
This year brings new expansion teams to the league – the Vancouver Goldeneyes and the Seattle Torrent. With two new teams and the roster shake-ups of the expansion draft, it will be interesting to see how each team in the league performs heading into the new season.
The PWHL has also announced its takeover tour schedule for the season, including three games with the Fleet on tour. On Jan. 3, Boston takes on Vancouver in Detroit, on Jan. 11, the Fleet play in Halifax against Ottawa, and on April 7, Boston plays Vancouver in Edmonton.
Boston’s first game of the season is available to watch on NESN in the United States and Sportsnet and RDS in Canada.
