What To Watch This Weekend 1/9-1/11

With many Big East showdowns this weekend, let’s recap what you should watch.

The Northeast is lining up its schedule this weekend with plenty of action for women’s sports fans. There’s college basketball and rivalry hockey showdowns at colleges across the region. Whether viewing from home or in person at an arena, there are plenty of games to catch.

Starting off with basketball, we have no major games on Friday the 9th, but on Saturday, Butler will be playing at St. John’s at 2 p.m. ET. That game will be available to watch on ESPN+. Another game will be Georgetown at DePaul at 3 p.m. ET. DePaul enters with a strong record and is struggling to find their position in the standings. DePaul’s Blue Demons have had glimpses of scoring ability and toughness in close games this season. Georgetown is also coming into this match with an effort to recover from past losses and stabilize its offense, particularly from its recent encounters with top conference opponents. The performance of Georgetown on the road has been inconsistent, especially in scoring.

On Sunday, the University of Connecticut plays at Creighton at 2 p.m. UConn leads the pack once more, with the Huskies continuing to be the benchmark for women’s college basketball. Still, their tilt with Creighton is arguably the best game of the weekend, pitting UConn against a disciplined, physical conference opponent.

There’s a lot of action going on this weekend for college hockey. Friday is jam-packed with four games, Northeastern at Providence at 2 p.m., Boston College at Holy Cross at 6 p.m., UConn at Maine at 6 p.m. and Vermont at Merrimack, also at 6 p.m. All of these games are going to be featured on ESPN+.

On Saturday for NCAA hockey, we have some rematches from Friday’s matches, but also one added match, which is Boston University at New Hampshire at 6 p.m., while Vermont at Merrimack will be at 2 p.m. And UConn at Main will be at 4 p.m.

Be sure to catch all these exciting matchups going on in the Northeast this weekend with this loaded weekend of NCAA basketball and NCAA hockey.
