A look at how the women of Hockey East performed this week!
Hockey East teams were in action throughout the week, balancing nonconference play, tournament action and conference series as the season continued to build momentum.
The week opened on Jan. 19 with a nonconference matchup, as Providence traveled to Yale. The Friars fell 4-2 to the Bulldogs on the road to begin a busy stretch of games.
On Jan. 20, attention turned to Boston as the Beanpot tournament got underway, featuring Boston College, Boston University, Harvard and Northeastern in one of women’s college hockey’s most anticipated annual events. The Beanpot tournament wrapped up earlier in the week, with Harvard claiming the 2026 Women’s Beanpot title on an overtime penalty shot against Boston University.
Conference play resumed on Jan. 23 with a full slate of games across the league. Boston College earned a 4-1 win over New Hampshire, while Vermont defended home ice with a 5-2 victory against Boston University. Holy Cross picked up a 2-1 win over Providence, and Merrimack earned a 2-0 shutout on the road at Maine.
Saturday’s action on Jan. 24 featured more conference matchups and several notable results. New Hampshire responded with a 6-2 win at Boston College to split the series. Vermont completed a weekend sweep over Boston University with a 2-1 victory, while Holy Cross followed up with a 3-0 win over Providence.
Maine earned a 4-2 home win against Merrimack, marking a milestone moment as head coach Molly Engstrom recorded the 50th win of her career.
Northeastern and UConn opened their weekend series on Jan. 24, with Northeastern earning a 1-0 win in a tightly contested matchup. The two teams will conclude the series on Sunday.
As conference standings continue to tighten, Hockey East teams will look to carry momentum forward into another busy stretch of league play.
