A recap of what went down in the Hockey East conference this weekend.

The weekend started early with a few tight matchups on Thursday. The Vermont Catamounts swept their series with the Terriers in a 3-0 home shutout. Meanwhile, Northeastern cruised to a 5-1 win over Maine, as the Huskies continued to pile up conference victories and maintain momentum in the upper half of the Hockey East standings.
On Friday, one of the headline Hockey East contests saw No. 6 UConn dominate Providence 2-1 in overtime at Schneider Arena. The Huskies struck first on a goal by Livvy Dewar, and eventually lifted the win in the extra session as Maya Serdachny scored the overtime winner, giving UConn a crucial league victory and dropping Providence’s Hockey East mark.
UConn would continue its strong weekend by dominating Boston College 6-2. The Huskies broke the game open with a four-goal second period and Tia Chan logged an impressive 45 saves in goal, keeping UConn firmly among the top of the league standings.
Nationally ranked no. 5 Northeastern clinched the Hockey East regular season title with a thrilling 3-2 overtime win at Vermont. Junior Allie Lalonde scored the decisive goal in extra time, securing top seed positioning and a league crown for the Huskies after a strong conference campaign.
Standout Players:
Megan Woodworth: UConn

Senior forward Megan Woodworth was arguably the standout skater of the weekend. On Saturday against Boston College, Woodworth scored two goals and added an assist, finishing with three points in UConn’s 6-2 win. Her scoring included a pair of goals in the four-goal second period that broke the game open for the Huskies and helped power their offensive surge. Woodworth’s performance was a key reason UConn put up six goals against a tough BC team and continued building momentum late in the regular season.
Tia Chan: UConn

Goaltender Tia Chan was a major force in net for UConn over the weekend. In the 6-2 victory over Boston College, Chan made 45 saves and kept the Eagles’ offense in check through much of the game. Her strong play helped sustain UConn’s control after they built their lead and ensured the Huskies didn’t allow BC to come back.
Allie Lalonde: Northeastern

For Northeastern, junior forward Allie Lalonde produced one of the most dramatic scores of the weekend. In the 3-2 overtime victory at Vermont that clinched the Hockey East regular season title, Lalonde scored the overtime winner, capitalizing on a turnover to finish the play and secure the top seed for the Huskies in the upcoming conference tournament.
Rose-Marie Brochu: Vermont Catamounts

For Vermont in their overtime loss to Northeastern, Rose-Marie Brochu provided a late spark by scoring the Catamounts’ equalizer with under 30 seconds remaining in regulation, keeping Vermont competitive and forcing the extra period. Brochu’s timely offense highlighted her ability to make big plays in tight situations.
