After a month, the PWHL is back from break!
The last game before the Olympic break was on Jan. 28. Now, exactly a month later, the PWHL and the Boston Fleet are back in business! The Olympics were extremely successful for many players in the PWHL, especially since the USA won gold! Multiple Fleet players were named to their respective countries’ rosters, and three came home with gold! Aerin Frankel, Megan Keller and Haley Winn played for the USA. Now, back with the Fleet, they are set to visit Ottawa in their first match back.
The Boston Fleet currently sit at first in the PWHL standings, with an 8-2-2-2 record. Their last game was against the New York Sirens, where they won 4-3 in a shootout. The Fleet are on a three-game win streak, with their last loss being a shootout against the Ottawa Charge in early January.
The Ottawa Charge sit at fifth in the standings, with a 4-5-0-7 record. Their last game was against the Seattle Torrent, where they won 4-2. The Charge have not been consistent this season, with no real win or loss streaks. They have beaten the Boston Fleet twice this season.
With teams back connected, and many players still riding the high of the Olympic Games, this is sure to be an exciting matchup! Will the Fleet hold their dominating streak? Or will the Charge continue to upset the team? The only way to find out is to tune in! The game is set to take place Saturday, Feb. 28 at 2 p.m. at TD Place in Ottawa. This game will be streamed on NESN and CBC.
