The Boston Fleet struggle to score in a shutout loss against the Toronto Sceptres.
On Tuesday night, the Boston Fleet faced off against the Toronto Sceptres at Agganis Arena.
Toronto goaltender Raygan Kirk was the difference-maker, turning aside all 26 shots she faced. This performance marked Kirk’s second consecutive shutout. The netminder has now stopped 58 straight shots across her last two games, continuing a dominant stretch between the pipes.
After a scoreless first two periods, the game finally broke open in the third. Daryl Watts put Toronto on the board with 11:01 remaining. The forward capitalized on a key opportunity to give her team the 1-0 lead. From there, Boston pushed to respond, but struggled to put the puck past Kirk.
Toronto added an insurance goal scored by Blayre Turnbull to seal the win, extending their strong run coming out of the Olympic break.
Boston was unable to find the finishing touch on offense, marking a frustrating end to a game with many chances. Despite the loss, the Fleet remain in first place. They will look to bounce back this Saturday when they face the Seattle Torrent.
