History is made in Boston’s 1-2 loss against Utah.
The Boston Legacy have had a rough start to their inaugural season, losing to Utah in their third game and staying at the bottom of the standings. With a crowd of over 10,000 at Gillette Stadium, it was not a game to miss.
Boston came out aggressively, pressing high and disrupting Utah’s buildup from the start. Their midfield set the tone early, winning possession in dangerous areas and quickly turning defense into attack. There was some drama at the beginning, with a no call foul on Utah for pushing. Around the 13th minute of play Aïssata Traoré broke away with the ball. Around the penalty box she was knocked to the ground by Utah’s Kate Del Fava. The crowd filled with boos as the referees did not call a foul, even after review. This would pump the energy up in the stadium and keep the fight going.

There was not much else to happen after that conundrum until Utah’s Tatumn Milazzo scored the opening goal at minute 32 with a free kick near the Legacy’s goal.
Despite the Royal’s early lead, Casey Murphy stood strong and kept Utah off as much as she could while the rest of the Legacy worked to even the score.
Things would really go downhill for Boston in the beginning of the second half. Annie Karich took a foul and in the penalty kick, Utah was able to get past Murphy, making the score 2-0.Not all hope would be lost though. Around 71 minutes in, Aïssata Traoré would make Legacy history with the first goal for the franchise.
Despite their efforts to comeback, the Legacy were unable to get past Utah’s goal and took their third straight loss. The team looks ahead as they play the San Diego Wave on Friday at 7 p.m.
