Boston will need a recharge after facing Ottawa last night!
In the first period, both teams held their own, keeping the score 0-0. Even with three penalties, two on Boston, one on Ottawa, the Fleet and Charge could not get past one another quite yet.
Heading into the second, the scores stayed until the Fleet’s Abby Newhook broke the tie! Assisted by teammates Jessie Eldridge and Megan Keller, Newhook brought a new fire to the ice at 8:40. The penalty pattern continued, though, and two went to Boston and one went to Ottawa to finish off the second period 1-0 Boston.
The Charge came back hard in the third when Rory Guilday and Brianne Jenner assisted Rebecca Leslie in tying up the game at 8:22 into the period. The teams split penalties evenly, two for each, ultimately leading to overtime.
Both teams were itching for the OT win, but only one succeeded. The Ottawa Charge’s Brianne Jenner scored the winning puck with help from Ronja Savolainen. 3:46 is all it took for the Ottawa win of 2-2.
Overall, each team held their own truthfully in it to win it! Goaltender for the Fleet, Aerin Frankel, had 19 saves and the Charge’s goaltender, Gwenyth Philips, had 25 saves. You can catch your favorite Fleet in their next face-off on April 25 against the New York Sirens at 12 p.m. EDT.
