WPBL Player Spotlight: Lexi Hastings

From UConn to Boston, Lexi Hastings will play in the WPBL inaugural season.

Left fielder Lexi Hastings will be a part of the Women’s Professional Baseball League’s inaugural season. She was drafted in the first round, pick 20, by Boston. She was born in Virginia but split her high school years between Virginia and North Carolina. Hastings attended the University of Connecticut, where she played softball.

In high school, Hastings was a three-sport athlete. In addition to playing softball, she also played volleyball and ran indoor and outdoor track. She became a state champion in track when she won the triple jump event. In Hastings’ senior year in 2021, she won the South Central Girls’ Athlete of the Year award.

Hastings started at the University of Connecticut in 2022. During her time at UConn, she hit two program records. Hastings scored 198 career runs and had 128 stolen bases. She also had 254 career hits, which is the second most in program history. While at UConn, Hastings was a four-time All-Big East Selection, 2023 NFCA First Team All-Region and the 2024 Big East Player of the Year.

Hastings officially signed with Boston in early January. She will be making her professional baseball debut in August, with the season starting on the first. While we anticipate her debut, Hastings will be playing in the inaugural season of the KC Diamonds, a professional softball team in Kansas City.
