On Monday, July 6, the No. 15 Connecticut Sun took on the No. 2 Minnesota Lynx at Target Center. In the first half, Brittney Griner scored 13 points, helping build a small but present lead of 48-44 by halftime. As the game went on, the Lynx clawed their way onto the scoreboard. With only 54 seconds remaining in the game, Minnesota tied it up 84-84 thanks to Natasha Howard’s successful free throws.

Kennedy Burke came in clutch for the Sun when she retook the lead with a three-pointer. At this point, only 44 seconds remained, but they were not going to give up. Diamond Miller, who used to be on the Lynx, blocked for Griner to seal a five-point lead. Even though the Lynx’s Courtney Williams ended with a basket on the buzzer, the Connecticut Sun were just too good to beat! The final score was 90-89.

Not only did the Sun take the win, but Brittany Griner had an all time high with 29 points snagged alongside 10 rebounds. Kennedy Burke scored 16 points, including her game-changing three-pointers. Not far behind on the scoring poll was Leïla Lacan, who secured 13 points for the Sun!

Overall, this game was one for the books! The Connecticut Sun will face the Minnesota Lynx at home on Wednesday, July 8, so stay tuned to see if the Sun will shine again!
