Privacy Policy

Last updated: November 5, 2026

Women of the Northeast (“WOTNE,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates https://womenofthene.com. This policy explains how we collect, use, and handle personal information through our website.

Information we collect

Contact forms

When you contact us through our WPForms contact form, we collect the information you provide, such as your name, email address, and message.

We use this information to respond to your inquiry and handle related correspondence. Submitting a contact form does not subscribe you to marketing emails.

Submissions are processed through our website and email services. Depending on our form settings, copies may also be stored in our website database or form backup service. Please do not submit sensitive personal information through the contact form.

Comments

If comments are enabled and you leave a comment, we collect the information entered in the comment form, along with your IP address and browser information to help detect spam. Your comment and the display name you provide may be publicly visible.

If Gravatar is enabled, an anonymized identifier generated from your email address may be sent to that service to determine whether you have a profile image. Its privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile image may appear publicly alongside it.

Contributor accounts

For writers, editors, and other users with website accounts, we store account information such as usernames, names, email addresses, and profile details.

Author names, biographies, and profile images added for publication may appear publicly alongside articles or on author pages. Website administrators can access and manage account information.

Media

Images uploaded to the website may contain embedded information, including location data. Contributors should remove sensitive metadata before uploading images, as visitors may be able to download and extract it.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies to support features such as account login and saved preferences.

If you have an account, WordPress uses cookies to remember your login and display preferences. Selecting “Remember Me” extends your login session. Logging out removes the login cookies.

If comments are enabled, you may choose to save your name, email address, and website in cookies so you do not need to enter them again when commenting.

Services used in embedded content may also set cookies, as described below.

Embedded content and external links

Articles may include embedded videos, social media posts, images, or other content from external websites.

These services may collect information, use cookies, and track your interaction with embedded content, including linking that activity to an account you hold with them. Their own privacy policies govern their handling of that information.

Links to external websites are also subject to those websites’ privacy practices.

How we share information

Personal information may be accessed by authorized WOTNE team members and processed by service providers that support our website, hosting, email delivery, contact forms, backups, security, and spam prevention.

If you request a password reset, your IP address may be included in the reset email.

We may also disclose information where required by law.

International access and processing

WOTNE’s team operates across Canada and the United States. Information submitted through the website may be accessed in either country. Our service providers may process or store information in other countries, where different privacy laws may apply.

How long we keep information

We retain contact form submissions and related correspondence only for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, follow up, and meet applicable legal or security needs.

Published comments and their metadata may remain for as long as the relevant discussion or article remains available.

Contributor account information is retained while needed to manage accounts and publication records. Published articles and author credits may remain available after a contributor stops writing for WOTNE.

Your privacy choices and requests

You may contact us to request access to or correction of your personal information, or to request its deletion. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.

Some information may need to be retained for legal, security, or recordkeeping purposes. We will explain any applicable limitations when responding.

Security

We use reasonable measures to protect personal information and limit access to people who need it for their work. No method of internet transmission or electronic storage is completely secure.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our website or practices change. The date above indicates the latest revision.
