Chloe Ricketts to Boston in 2026!

Let’s welcome the 18-year-old forward as the newest signing for Boston Legacy FC.

Boston Legacy Football Club announced on Wednesday, Oct. 1, that they have completed another player signing ahead of their inaugural season in 2026. Chloe Ricketts, who was a part of the Washington Spirit roster, has been traded to the Houston Dash for the remainder of the 2025 NWSL season. The Washington Spirit will collect $15,000 in transfer threshold funds from the Dash. Chloe will officially sign with the Boston Legacy in January 2026, as she is currently on a pre-contract agreement. Her official contract will be through the 2028 season, with an option for 2029.

At just 18 years old, Ricketts has been with the Washington Spirit and the NWSL for the past two and a half years. During her time with the Spirit, she featured in 34 games (all competitions) and has both a goal and an assist on her record. Aside from the NWSL, Ricketts has also featured on the US U20 Women’s National Team this past year for the Concacaf W Championship. Her experience with the youth team is great exposure to high-level play, continuing to grow her confidence in the game.

Ricketts is originally from Michigan and began her soccer journey there. She played in competitive environments and clubs, many of which were against boys. At 14, she played for a women’s USL team called AFC Ann Arbor. She became the youngest goal-scorer for this team and one of the youngest in the league’s history. These early career milestones set the standard for her journey and reflect the dedication she has brought with her through the years.

At 5’1, she may not have a height advantage, but she does contribute a lot to the midfield and attack with her speed and technical skill. She was an important part of and contributed to all of the teams she had played for. Her energy, versatility and competitiveness have all drawn eyes to her, and Boston Legacy FC will be her next environment to grow and thrive in. Ricketts’ qualities will also add depth to the growing Legacy roster as well as shape what their inaugural season could look like.

Chloe Ricketts is not just the “youngest this” or “first that,” she is an active reminder of how youth is the future of the game. Ricketts’ story is still being written, but these first few chapters have foreshadowed how she may just be the next big star of the game. The sky is the limit, and the ceiling is far from being reached. Finishing out the season with Houston before making her official move to Boston will give fans the opportunity to see more from the growing star.
