From Brazil to Boston, soccer star Amanda Gutierres will join Boston Legacy FC in 2026!
Boston Legacy Football Club announced another addition to the 2026 roster this morning. Teasing the signing last night on their socials with a faceless video, Boston Legacy FC publicized the signing of Brazilian soccer star Amanda Gutierres. This is the Legacy’s second player announcement this week ahead of their January transfer window. Gutierres is signed on a pre-contract, and her official contract is set to run through the end of 2029.
Gutierres has had a strong career so far, and at 24 years old she is not slowing down. She began her career in São Paulo’s youth system in 2017, and by 2018 had stepped up to the senior level. The following year she scored her first official league goal which would began her reputation as a strong finisher. She spent a year in the French divisions in 2022, and when she returned to Brazil, she came back even stronger. She played for team Palmeiras upon her return. In her first season back, she scored an impressive 24 goals—the most ever by a Palmeiras player in a single campaign. By 2025, she had 17 goals in 19 appearances.
Beyond her league success, she also has multiple caps on the senior Brazil Women’s National Team. Recently, she played alongside soccer legend Marta in the Copa América Femenina run. Both of these players helped bring Brazil to win the entire tournament. Gutierres scored six goals during this tournament and earned the title of Top Goal Scorer. She also scored a penalty in the final to secure the cup for Brazil, and was later named to the Team of the Tournament roster.
This past year, Gutierres received her first Ballon d’Or nomination, alongside teammate Marta again. Despite her excelent record in league and international play, Gutierres was considered one of the “lesser-known” nominees. The nomination helped her gain more attention.
She is an elite player who is continuing to grow her following and reputation. She has been a dominating force for the Brazilian leagues as one of the top players. She is competitive, which is exactly what Boston Legacy FC is looking for. The Legacy has built an identity around Boston and the pursuit of success. Amanda Gutierres brings a new consistency that aligns with the club’s vision heading into 2026.
