Player Spotlight: Lucy Adams

From Andover to the U.S. National Team, Lucy Adams is redefining what it means to rise through New England field hockey.

Lucy Adams grew up in Andover, Massachusetts. She has two sisters, including a twin named Georgia. What inspired Lucy to start playing field hockey was her mother, Courtney, who also played. In fifth grade, Lucy and her twin joined the town field hockey team, coached by their mother.

In high school, Lucy was a multi-sport athlete. In addition to field hockey, she played ice hockey and lacrosse for her school, all at the varsity level. In her junior year, Adams became the field hockey captain. Additionally, she played club field hockey with Northeast Elite.

Lucy Adams enrolled in Brown University and joined the field hockey team as a midfielder. In her freshman year, she ranked second on the team in goals (5), and points (15). Adams earned First Team All-Ivy and First Team All-Northeast Region (NFHCA). In 2023, she faced a minor injury that limited her playing time. Despite this, she still earned Second Team All-Ivy honors and Second Team NFHCA All-Northeast Region.

The USA Field Hockey U-21 Women’s National Team called Lucy up in 2023. She participated in the 2023 Junior Pan American Championship, in which the USA won gold. That same year, Adams was named to the Junior World Cup roster. All of these moments were valuable experiences for the future.

In 2024, the midfielder bounced back with a strong season. Lucy played in all 17 games, leading Brown University in assists! She was also second in points. These statistics once again earned Adams the First Team All-Ivy, Ivy League All-Tournament and NFHCA First Team All-Northeast Region honors.

This past January, the United States Senior Women’s National Team called up Lucy Adams. In a match against New Zealand, the midfielder made her first appearance.

As Lucy Adams steps into the next phase of her career, the future is looking bright. With her recent debut on the U.S. Women’s National Team and continued dominance in the Ivy League, she’s set up to be one of the key players in American field hockey.

Fans can look forward to watching her leadership and versatility shine on the international stage. Whether representing Brown University or wearing the red, white and blue, Lucy Adams embodies the next generation of U.S. field hockey — talented, determined and unafraid to dream big.
