The NEWMAC brought official Betsy Bartlett into the spotlight in their Official Appreciation Series. Bartlett officiates for the NEWMAC women’s lacrosse games, but prior to her career in collegiate officiating, she was quite the athlete herself. Bartlett played soccer, ice hockey and lacrosse in her heyday! She is also an ESL teacher at the Naval War College. Betsy Bartlett tells NEWMAC, “Officiating is the best way to stay involved in sports after your playing days have passed.”

Women’s sports are truly on the rise! Our fanbase is growing and crowds are showing up to support the leagues. Of the Boston Legacy FC team, Chief Revenue Officer Amina Bulman told NBC10 Boston, “We’ve really seen women’s sports just explode…it’s the fans seeing the caliber of the sport and the athletes that are playing and saying, ‘I want more of that’”. Here at Women of the Northeast, we are proud to be a part of this revolutionary year!
