Aïssata’s energy through the season and last-minute goal make her our Athlete of the Week!
Boston Legacy FC has not had the strongest start to their inaugural season, but their roster is packed with pure star power. As each game passes, you can see that the Legacy’s chemistry is truly coming together. Through the first 11 games, the Legacy have scored 11 goals.
Aïssata, forward for the Legacy, currently leads the team in goals with three. She has been a huge factor in the Legacy’s attacking department. She’s fast, energetic and always ready to press. She even scored the first-ever goal in Boston Legacy FC history.
On Friday, May 22, Boston Legacy hosted Seattle Reign in the first-ever professional women’s soccer game in the state of Rhode Island! Unfortunately, the Seattle Reign dominated the game, going up early on a PK and later scoring a second goal. In the 89th minute, Aïssata found the back of the net through chaos in the box! Unfortunately, it was called offside, and the goal was taken. However, just a few minutes later, in the last minute of stoppage time, Aïssata made another run and scored again! Aïssata deprived the Reign of a clean sheet and the game ended in a 2-1 loss.
Her dedication, consistency and “never give up” mentality give her the honors of our Athlete of the Week! You can catch Boston Legacy FC’s last game before the break on Ion at 1:30 p.m. ET as they visit the Kansas City Current!
