The Minutewomen are on a six-game win streak as they complete non-conference play. How did they get here and who to watch out for.
UMass Amherst’s soccer team has been on fire recently with a 6-1-0 record. The Minutewomen have been one of the more entertaining teams in the early season, combining an aggressive attack with several strong individual performances.
UMass opened the regular season with a 2-1 victory at St. John’s on Aug. 13 before earning a narrow 1-0 win over NJIT in its home opener. The biggest early win came at Harvard on Aug. 24, when the Minutewomen overcame a 3-0 deficit to win 4-3. Freshman midfielder Monica Curry was the star of that comeback, scoring twice and adding an assist for five points. Her performance earned her the first of two consecutive MAC Offensive Player of the Week awards.
After the Brown loss, UMass Amherst bounced back strong. The Minutewomen defeated UMass Lowell 4-1 on Senior Day, with Curry scoring twice, including the game-winning goal. They then produced their most dominant offensive performance of the season against Yale, winning 5-1 on Sept. 10. Senior Caroline Dickson scored twice, while Curry, Annie McCaffrey and Lexi Terry also found the net. The five goals were UMass Amherst’s most in a game since 2023.
The Minutewomen then closed their non-conference schedule with another strong performance, defeating Northeastern 3-0 on Sept. 13. That victory extended their winning streak to three games and gave them six wins in their first seven regular-season contests. They will now turn their attention toward MAC play beginning with a Sept. 20 matchup at Ohio.
Top Players
Let’s take a look into the women making this happen.
Monica Curry has been the breakout star of the season. The freshman midfielder has already earned two consecutive MAC Offensive Player of the Week honors, and her combination of scoring ability, speed and attacking aggression has made her one of UMass’ most dangerous players. She scored twice against both Harvard and UMass Lowell and added another goal against Yale.

Caroline Dickson has also been extremely important. The senior forward provides experience and a consistent scoring threat, highlighted by her two-goal performance against Yale. She currently gives UMass a veteran presence in the attacking third and complements Curry well.

Annie McCaffrey has emerged as another important offensive contributor. The junior midfielder scored against Yale and has provided energy in the midfield while contributing to the attack. Nia Hislop, meanwhile, has shown her value as both a forward and playmaker, including an assist on Dickson’s first goal against Yale.

Overall, UMass Amherst has shown resilience, offensive depth and the ability to win in different ways. With Curry’s breakout, Dickson’s veteran leadership and contributions throughout the lineup, the Minutewomen enter MAC play with plenty of momentum and legitimate potential to make noise in their first conference season ahead.
